Asked about his technique, Banksy said:

“ I use whatever it takes. Sometimes that just means drawing a mustache on a girl’s face on some billboard, sometimes that means sweating for days over an intricate drawing. Efficiency is the key. ”

Stencils are traditionally hand drawn or printed onto sheets of acetate or card, before being cut out by hand. Because of the secretive nature of Banksy’s work and identity, it is uncertain what techniques he uses to generate the images in his stencils, though it is assumed he uses computers for some images due to the photocopy nature of much of his work.

He mentions in his book, ‘Wall and Piece’, that as he was starting to do graffiti that he was always too slow and was either caught or could never finish the art in the one sitting. So he devised a series of intricate stencils to minimize time and overlapping of the color.

wendy2020: You’re a daft c***. These two fatties could obviously be from any western country. When people say “women are stupid” they’re thinking of you.

Banksy: You’ve created some great (dare I say brilliant) pieces in the past, but this is all a bit on-the-nose don’t you think?

Why not just a pic of the McDonald’s logo with a prohibition symbol over it?

Banksy has so many shirts and books out (most people know him from the f****ng Simpsons for christ’s sake) he’s dangerously close to becoming part of the machine.

Time for a changing of the guard.

  2. wendy2020 says:

Amazing Art. Love the fat American tourist snapping a photo from their rickshaw. Too appropriate.

  3. Olivia says:

I love Banksy’s work. Some of it really makes you think, they carry such strong messages about many different issues.

I went to see this exhibition last year, it was very well done and all of the pieces were awesome!

Once you read his books(I have wall and piece) you can really understand some of his pieces.

    Amazing artist :)

  4. Grover says:

Love the cop on the hobby horse. Perfect.

  5. AlexsaZ says:

I liked very much, thanks for the compilation

  6. Robert says:

  7. K.Skin says:

Banksy your a true art god, i’ve been stenciling and grafiting for years and its just true genius and original!

  8. Nathan says:

I due graffiti and its all banksys fault. Wall and piece is fantastic.

  9. NICKR. says:

In response to Chris C… Marcel Duchamp was a decent artist, but it is a FAR cry from what Banksy has done. Fusing a unicycle with a stool or drawing some facial hair on the Mona Lisa is cute, but I know few people who would consider that art. Bansky’s work asks you to question societal convention… It’s seems like Duchamp was just playing.

  10. Tony says:

I just loved these, very very funny and original. Shared them on Stumbleupon and Tagfoot.

  11. Oyun says:

nice very nice thank you so much

  12. Chris C says:

Marcel Duchamp did this first and better almost 100 years ago.

  13. J. says:

Street art God… cool to see that he was able to work safely and effectively to put together this amazing exhibit… and it’s free. Stays true to his beliefs.

    Cheers.

  14. Banksy commented on my site and i truly agree about language and art. Banksy itself is is a siginifier and he just points and signifies. I would hate to be the signified though. Now my site has been signified by BANKSY…..

  15. B.V.nagamalleswara rao says:

Wav what a wonder. a spark in mind to the creaters

  16. A. sdf says:

It could be a British couple. They’ve nearly caught up with the Americans now…

  17. Ronnie says:

    haha…a little funny

  18. Fuzzy Dunlop says:

God this is lame. I know that Jon-Luc Godard said “It’s not where you take things from – it’s where you take them too” but basing a career entirely on the work of Blek le Rat is a bit naughty.

  19. boris the spider says:

coolio i went there and it was awesome :D

  20. Chris Ronk says:

His gallery work is ok. I think he should stick with street art.

  21. Sam Golden says:

banksy is amazing, saw a lot of his work in london and wall and piece is definitely worth checking out! a real inspiration to everybody who wants to create

  22. Susie says:

I’ve really been enjoying not only this photos, but the videos I’ve been watching. What an immense talent… but phooey on the ego-book.

HOWEVER, I do have one serious question, please (and no speculations, just fact): Does anyone know, positively, if the animals he uses were once alive (now stuffed), or is he THAT good that he can even re-create an animal simply by studying living animals? It matters to me, it really, really does.

  23. Rebecca says:

Banksy is inspiring, a true genius at work. He melds his work which some would view as illegitimate to legitimate, he’s ensuring that future street artists will have more space and freedom and that the discussion about what is actual art (as well as his political commentary).

    Amazing.

  24. wanksy says:

    he would hate you

  25. jckoch says:

The fact that now he has a book out just kinda ruins it for me. I liked the rebel on the run thing myself. This looks too “prop like” for me. I liked the “street artist” mentality of his original work and style. Sorry!

  26. bobblewiz says:

They will look back at this stuff one day and realise the significance…

  27. Taylor says:

    I love this. absolutely amazing.

  28. robb says:

banksy as usual always produce awesome works.
    +1 to banksy.

  29. The artworld needs a kick up the rear once in a while. Thanks Banksy

  30. superpablo says:

I saw this exhibit recently; it’s at the Bristol Museum an it was fantastic. Very creative, strong message, and was absolutely free! There was also a muzzled lamb in a showcase in the natural history section. Genius! Banksy’s my new hero.

  31. jstema says:

    this is fantastic!

  32. thinkscout says:

Great work, great imagination. He twists real concepts and forms and in doing so makes surrealist statements about topical issues.

It has been interesting watching his rise from a controversial sneered at street artist to a respected commentator and creator of polemic and art.

  33. zwenkwiel says:

    i dno
looks kinda random and a bit gimmicky
    i prefer his actual streetwork

  34. Crystal says:

Really great! i love this art! its like reallist, funny and a little grotesque Great!

  35. Gazzy says:

    Awesome man just awesome

  36. e cigarette says:

Amazing Art. Love the fat American tourist snapping a photo from their rickshaw. Too appropriate.

  37. Sarah says:

A very unique type of art. Glad to see that each of them is so real.
